Likes: Having a full squad to select from

Dislikes: Moles; cricket bats from ebay

Dermot Cooke
RHB

A former club captain, Dermot has played for the club for a number of years.  A free-scoring top order batsman, he and all the players were delighted when he recorded his first century for the club in 2007 against Hethersett & Tas Valley A.

Likes: Getting through a match without injuring his hamstrings

Dislikes: Preparing the wicket every week; deliveries that sever vocal chords

Chris Cook
RHB LM

Chris has been a solid opening batsman for the club since the early 1990s and often picks up wickets with his left arm swing bowling.

The club Chairman, Colin is a free-flowing middle-order batsman and a enthusiastic cover fielder.  Colin is also capable of taking wickets when called upon to bowl.

Likes: Taking three bottles into the shower

Dislikes: Anyone borrowing his exfoliater

Martin Guy
RHB RMF

Enigmatic and unpredictable, Martin is a rare breed of player with a track record of winning matches single-handed.  Martin can score runs at an alarming rate and when bowling well is very difficult to face.  Martin recently took Tacolneston's best-ever bowling figures of 9-13 against New Buckenham in an inspired spell of bowling.

Likes: Chocolate cake; Charlie the dog; ebay

Dislikes: Washing his kit

Andy Guy
RHB RFM

Andy is a quality all rounder who regularly pins down batsmen with accurate bowling.  Andy also makes regular telling contributions as an upper order batsman, and scored a superb 131 not out against Colney this year.

Likes: Fast cars
Dislikes: Back spasms

David Ready
LHB

David has played for the club for over 20 years, with his unorthodox batting style belying a keen eye for the ball.

Likes: A crafty cigarette

Dislikes: Being positioned in the field

Matt Auckland
RHB LMF

A relative newcomer to the team, Matt has settled in very quickly and is a reliable and solid opening bowler whose figures for 2007 didn’t give him the credit he deserved.  Matt is also a handy middle order batsman.

Likes: Taking wickets

Dislikes: Nicks between the slips; gout

Richard Hawkes
RHB RS

A former Alliance player, Richard is a quality spinner capable of bowling economically on all pitches, even those favouring the batsman.  Richard is also a useful lower order batsman, on more than one occasion scoring match-winning runs for the club.

Likes: Good bowling figures

Dislikes: Being called for no-balls

Beverly Spratt
LHB

The longest-serving club player, Bev has been an opening batsman for the club for a number of years.  Always vocal in the field, he has proven over the years that he is very difficult to dismiss and has frequently been the backbone of the batting order.

Likes: Shouting; jumpers; batting up the order

Dislikes: Fielding any further away than slip; having to make any sort of movement when fielding

Dickie Rix
RHB RM

Injury curtailed Dickie’s 2007 season, with his all-rounder presence being missed.  Dickie is a strong middle-order batsman and medium-paced bowler as well as a safe pair of hands in the field.

Likes: Enthusiasm in the field

Dislikes: Being injured

Nick Dent
RHB RM

An elegant strokeplayer, Nick is a technically proficient but frustrating top order batsman who frequently gets starts but has yet to compile a big score for the club, which must surely be only a short time away.

Likes: Cassis de Dijon; "fashionable" clothing

Dislikes: Getting nervous when approaching a score into double-figures; forgetting his kit

Ross Gordon

Ross is a newcomer to the team but his enthusiasm has been an example to all of the players and will build upon last season’s performances in 2008.  Ross received a standing ovation when he scored his first runs for the club earlier this year.

Likes: Heart of Midlothian

Danny Rout
RHB WKT

Danny is a relative newcomer to the team whose sound wicketkeeping have doubtless saved the club dozens of runs and contributed several wickets.  He is also an important top order batsman.
